Sunday Funday! In honor of the Packers playing the LA Rams I have added a fun twist to the classic In-N-Out burger and fries. The classic In-N-Out burger and animal fries are famous for being topped with American cheese, caramelized onions, and a sauce similar to thousand island dressing. I made a caramelized onion beer cheese sauce for a fun and tasty fusion between the two states.
Ingredients
Sauce
1/2 cup Mayo
1/4 cup Ketchup
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp dried dill weed
Stir together all ingredient and put in a squeeze bottle.
Caramelized Onion Beer Cheese Sauce
2 cups chopped onions
2 1/2 tbsp butter
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp flour
3/4 cup light beer
3/4 cup milk
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 tsp paprika
Melt 1 1/2 tbsp butter in nonstick skillet add onion, salt and pepper, sauté at medium low. After 15 minutes add 1 tbsp water to onions and then cook for about 10 to 15 minutes or until soft and brown. Add 1 tbsp butter to onions and stir in flour.
Once flour is incorporated add beer and milk, stir constantly for about 3 minutes. Add the cheese and paprika. Check to see if more salt and pepper is needed.
Burger and Fries
2 lbs. ground beef
Salt and pepper to taste
8 tsp mustard
Hamburger buns
Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles
A bag of your favorite frozen French fries cooked according to bag instructions,
Beer cheese sauce
In-N-Out sauce
Season ground beef with salt and pepper I added 2 tsp salt and 1/2 pepper. Form into 8 balls.
Heat a griddle, lightly coated with oil, to medium high heat. Add the balls to the griddle, top ball with parchment paper and smash using a burger smasher or a plate and spatula. Spread 1 tsp of mustard on the raw side of each burger and flip.
Assemble burger by spreading In-N-Out sauce on top and bottom of a buttered and grilled hamburger bun. Place burger on bun add onion cheese sauce. Finish with lettuce, tomato slice and pickles. Add a serving of French fries to plate and top with cheese and In-N-Out sauce, I garnished with some chives to make it purdy. Enjoy!
