Sunday fun day! In honor of the Packers playing the Lions, I made a fusion of Michigan's famous olive burger with Wisconsin's classic smash butter burger. Smash burger cooking method creates a dark caramelized crust and intense beefy flavor. Creamy olive sauce adds a briny unique element, So simple and so good. Go Pack Go!
This makes 4 burgers.
Ingredients
Olive Sauce
1/3 cup mayo
1/4 cup Manzanilla, green olives with pimentos, finely chopped
1 tbsp olive juice
Burger
1 Lb ground beef
4 burger buns (your favorite brand)
4 tbsp butter
4 slices cheese (I used Jarlsberg and cheddar)
Additional toppings
Lettuce, tomatoes, sliced onion, pickles, pickled jalapeños, or bacon
For olive sauce, mix all ingredients and set in fridge until ready to use.
Shape meat into 4 balls. Place ball on hot griddle and smash to 1/4 inch thick. Season to taste with Monreal Steak Seasoning, my favorite for burgers and steaks. Flip after a nice brown crust has formed, about 2-3 minutes. Melt desired cheese on top. Spread butter on the buns and toast on a flat top.
Place lettuce on bottom bun and any other topping choices. Add olive sauce, burger and top bun. Enjoy!
