Sloppy Joe meets the mushroom and Swiss burger. This recipe is easy and is a great way to stretch meat.
Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbsp neutral oil
1 large onion sliced
4 cups sliced mushrooms
1 Tbsp butter
1 heaping Tbsp flour
1 cup beef broth
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1 tsp Montreal Steak Seasoning
4 sandwich buns
Cook beef in a skillet over medium high heat add salt and pepper to taste. Removed cooked beef from pan and set aside. Remove grease from skillet and add oil, Once oil is heated add sliced onions and cook for about 3 minutes. Add mushrooms, add more salt and pepper, and cook until done.
Move veggies to one side of pan and melt butter on the clear side. Once melted stir flour into butter to make a roux,
Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil. Stir everything around in pan. Stir in Swiss cheese and add back in the beef. Finish with one of my favorite seasonings Monreal Steak seasoning. Serve on a toasted bun. Enjoy
Yum! I love this as an alternative to cheese steak
